We need help!!

That last post just reminded me. We need help, two things.

First off, since moving up here I have yet to find a good taco shop, not mexican restaurant, if anyone knows a good one (i'm willing to drive) let me know. I found one in Kelso, but that is too far. I want a good (real) burrito, I'll hook up whomever can find me one.

Secondly, we desperately need a fridge for the studio, anyone got one that they don't need? We need a little one, our foam cooler is on the fritz...

Metal Cross

Growing up in AZ, you see a lot of Spanish crosses, especially when your mother collects them. Here is one I made for her wall.

Davin Spridgen Studio Visit

Our good friend and up and coming artist Davin Spridgen came by this week to do some painting. He will be showing at the show on Nov 5th, and absolutely slayed the piece he brought to work on. Here is a sneak peak of what is to come...

Check more of Davin's work here

Lem's been working on some weird shit too...

What we are listening to in the studio

Well lately Lem's been playing his pandora which consists of a lot of Tool, NIN, Perfect Circle, Aesop Rock, and Del... It's been a long two weeks, but this rad little cover came on the other day which was nice.

And this sweet little gem of band, Steel Panther!

And for good measure...

My other job

It's all about diversification in life, mixing it up, not putting all your eggs in one basket, etc, etc.

Pat Wright is a rad photographer who has a sweet photo booth that he asked Pete and I to help run. We get to learn a little bit about photography and drink coffee and Kalua...

So once a month Pete and I moonlight at Venom, we sold out, we do it all for the money, but damn it sure is fun.

Purple Razors Family and Friends Show

November 5th, 2009 The Purple Razors Art Collective is hosting our World Premier exhibition, the Purple Razors Family and Friends Art Show.

This show is a celebration of our new studio space and headquarters, Electric Coffin Studio, as well as a way to say thank you to all those who have supported us. Our way of saying thanks is having our friends showcase their talents and giving our other friends some rad shit to look at, as well as free beer.

Join us in our new found home in Pioneer Square as we embark on a new journey of creating Satan approved works of visual stimulation and gratification and working together to shake
things up a bit.

First Thursday, get your ass down here and have a beer.

New snowboard by Lem

Snowboard graphics have really gone to shit these days, aside for a few sweet collaborations and some really gnarly imagery from capita, I am not impressed. Where is the metal? Where is the evil? Don't get me wrong, I know snowboarding is fun, and I like to have fun, but when I look down at my board I want to get pumped, not in touch with my emotions. All these damn emo, hippie dippy, boring shred sticks suck. So I talked to Lem and he said he'd hook it up.

Here is what his demented mind came up with...

Duffy

PS I won't actually be riding this board, because in all actuality it is an old board I had laying around the house. But we will be printing whole top sheets with Reed over at inkmonstr.com so check back to peep how those turn out.

Old school Gem

With the rain upon us officially, we are relegated to finding abandoned warehouses, paying to skate indoors, or sitting around and watching skate videos for the next month or two before the snow falls. Here is something to help you get along...

Satan Approved

This small print is available at EVO right now, Larger hand screened prints will be available soon.

2 AM

Trying to finish up the poster for the Family and Friends art show. I like the slogan "tight art and loose women" but will wait to approve that for final print. And for some reason this photo is really funny to me right now... damn engrish.com

Black Vulture Press

It's hard to know what's up and what's down these days with every company claiming how core or real or genuine they are, especially in the board sports industry.

Well here is one that is as real and as core and as genuine as it gets. Every board comes with a razor blade? what, hell yeah we support that.

Here is what Black Vulture Press is all about, in their own words.

"Black Vulture Press specializes in hand crafted products made from scavenged materials. Decks are hand made using new techniques for better durability, pop, and finish. Our ‘Vultured’ T-shirts are made from 100% recycled clothing to protect our customers from mass produced crap made by innocent children in third world countries. We are skaters, we are craftsmen, we are Vultures. We are taking what was left to rot, and giving it a new and better life." BVP.

New Home: Electric Coffin Studio

It doesn't look like much now, but it will soon.

We moved into a new studio down in Pioneer Square in the historic OK Hotel. Welcome to Electric Coffin Studio, now the new headquarters for the Purple Razors and all their dealings.

We will be having a Studio/Gallery warming party on First Thursday in November. It will be the Purple Razors Friends and Family Show. So far including me (Duffy), Lem (I know), Ryan Davis, Pat Wright, Asher, Quincy Quigg, and many more. We'll have art, beer, friends and a good time.

In the mean time check out the new space.

Mervin Warehouse Mural

In a small town called Carlsborg, out between Sequim and Port Angeles, on the Washington Peninsula lies a little factory. Most of you will never go there, never see it, or even know it exists, which is a shame because it is one of the raddest little places on earth, a true slice of heaven. Otherwise known as Mervin Manufacturing, this little compound exudes everything that is cool in life, from snowboards, skateboards, surfboards, a rad ramp, dogs, bicycles, RV trailers, eco friendly, and cool people.

I was invited to come out and decorate their walls in their new warehouse, with rumors that legends like Jamie Lynn and Mike Parillo would be out painting as well. So hells yeah I jumped on that shit.

However when I got there those two were no where to be found, but I painted anyway, and here are the photos to prove it. Now those fools will just have to paint around me...

Friday Night at EVO

This past Friday Night was the Premier for How The Northwest Was One and Spacecraft/Purple Razors art exhibition. It was a rowdy ol time with a wild west theme, art, photobooth, and free beer. EVO quickly met capacity, the line wrapped around the building, people snuck in through windows, all to look at my artwork... and maybe the movie and free beer too... oh and Spacecraft. Here are some photos of the good times.
